Statistics on food allergies

The causes of food allergies are still unclear and are very restrictive for those who suffer from them. We estimate that between 2% and 4% of Quebec residents suffer from food allergies, which is between 151,000 and 300,000 people.

Unfortunately, this frightening statistic is constantly rising. The combination of multiple allergies makes for an even more complex situation for allergic people, especially for the children, who need supervision to ensure the safety of what they eat at all times.

On top of that, it is proven that an allergic person will affect the life habits of about 10 people in his or her surroundings. This brings us to almost 3 million people that are directly or indirectly affected by food allergies in Quebec alone. The rise in food allergies causes worry because the triggering mechanisms are still unknown to this day.
